Overview

The research tells us that most fresh graduates in the UAE struggle to be effective due to language barriers. With English as the language of business in many organisations, it is critical that this skill be developed. The duration of our language programmes depends very much on the needs of the individual and organisation. We can focus on specific language skills, or cover general English. Where appropriate, we also offer English for Specific Purpose.

Our workshops will give successful participants the skills and confidence to communicate effectively in English. It focuses on high-frequency vocabulary and structures used in the work environment.

Language Skills

English for the energy industries develops the four language skills:

  • Reading skills will be developed through exploring texts used in everyday life, such as instruction manuals
  • Speaking and listening skills will be developed through pair-work and group practise of real-life communication situations, such as describing and giving information, giving instructions and warnings, and discussing workplace problems
  • Writing tasks motivate students by developing knowledge of useful language for different text types, such as report forms and written notes and instructions
