It is important for companies to provide an on-site Wellness program. Information resulting from this could make people more aware of health issues thus helping to reduce many chronic diseases which are preventable and account for a high percentage of total healthcare costs… Workplace Wellness is an active initiative on behalf of an organisation and its employees, to promote and engage in healthy workplace behaviour and practices, in order to improve workplace health and happiness outcomes. A Workplace Wellness programme often comprises of activities such as health education, health promotion, healthy workplace food options and food preparation areas, on-site fitness programs or facilities (or discounted access to fitness centres). As the majority of an employee’s time is spent in the workplace, it is important for companies to provide an on-site Wellness programme. Research has shown that many chronic diseases are preventable, and that such diseases account for a high percentage of total healthcare costs. Research shows that there is a direct link between workforce health and satisfaction levels, and productivity. Healthy and happy employees are more productive employees.

Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health (OSHAD), is the Competent Authority in the Emirate, for devising, implementing, regulating and enforcing health and safety standards and practices to be met by government and corporate entities. As part of the OSHAD Safety Framework, both government and corporate entities have a responsibility to implement workplace Wellness, and deliver stress management training.
